Many of the phenomena in the language can be and traditionally have been understood as a result of the very dominant asymmetries between syllables that have been caused by the fact that the Germanic foot is an asymmetric trochaic and quantity-sensitive unit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">van Oostendorp, M.
