I am a linguist specialising in Dutch phonology, language variation and language policy. I combine theoretical research with large-scale public linguistics and digital scholarship, and I actively write and speak for a broad audience about language, education and academic culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I edit the\u00a0Journal\u00a0of\u00a0Linguistics<\/a>\u00a0and the online journal\u00a0Neerlandistiek<\/a>, and I serve on editorial boards such as\u00a0Glossa<\/em>,\u00a0Phonology<\/em>\u00a0and the\u00a0Journal\u00a0of\u00a0Germanic\u00a0Linguistics<\/em>. I am also active in the board of a number of Dutch and international organisations related to individual languages, such as Dutch, Esperanto and Yiddish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
